The Effect of Migraines
Tonight's column I'm going to try to make
more fun out of -- more conversation-like. Just a warning
to those who are psychosomatic, i.e, those who are easily
suggestive to sicknessestonight's column, skip ahead to
tomorrow's., please don't read
Yesterday I had a migraine. It's kinda
typical for me, considering how it came about. I have
been dwindling down on resources all week, and having a
caffeine addiction when that is happening is NOT a
splendid idea. Nevertheless, my withdrawal kicked in full
force midday yesterday. I went to take some ibuprofen,
but as I went to take a bite of food, to coat my stomach,
I already knew -- it was too late. Nausea was already
kicking in, and I couldn't down the food. I forced myself
into bed, with the fan going full force on me, even
though I was shivering. I laid there for a while and
finally managed a nap, where I felt good enough two hours
later to quickly down some cheese to coat my stomach, and
swiftly down 4 ibuprofen. 2 hours later it still hadn't
helped enough so I took 2 more, teh maximum amount you're
allowed to take. It SLOOOOOWWWLY took effect, and to make
matters worse, my sinuses, heck my whole SENSES system
decided to go on overload. Bad time for a fire to be
started in the fireplace! The headache kicked right back
in. Ughhh.
However, the Lord started speaking to me
while I was in bed. I tried to lay still as not to move
my head. I started thinking about my pain, and what might
be causing it. I know a teaching by pastor Henry Wright
in Thomaston, Georgia, teaches that basically, chemically,
a migraine is caused by what I'll simplify as a "conflict
in a conflict". Medically, it's the attempt of some
brain tissue to expand where there's no room, hence the
pain. Psychologically, it's the result of stress or
pressure from the outside world intruding in, and causing
a flaring of the brain somewhat, although I'm not a
medical expert, and the way I describe it could be
refuted.
Anyway.
The Lord started speaking to me about
worship. I know that when we are in pain, the least thing
we want to think about is giving praise to God, and at
first it certainly wasn't the first thing on my agenda.
But I was reminded of an old Mike Warnke comedy routine
goes something like this.. "so I'm on stage all
covered with bandages and a sling on my arm, and crutches,
and I'm saying 'I'm a servant of the Lord, and look what
it's done for me!'" So He's impressing me to worship
Him anyway. At this point, I could hardly move, and my 3
year old nephew was in the room, trying to go to sleep,
so I couldn't blast any music, so I had to wait, but I
did eventually do so, listening to "Passion: The
road to One Day" out on the computer..(HIGHLY
recommended)... I started to feel a little bit better.
Before I did so, I believe God showed me a
way to try praying for others.. (certainly not "religiously"
but in faith).. a group of 6 people, 3 alternately
praying, 3 singing praise songs to God, praying over a
sick person. Ironically, it was brought about by the
memory of a Star Trek Voyager episode where Chakotay (if
you watch the series you know what I'm talking about, if
not, hang on, I'll try to explain) was trapped on a
planet with ex-borg who had discovered that with a new
small collective, they could rapidly heal theire wounded.
It was the same concept, but in a Christian way...no
neural transceiver hooked up between the borg, hehe, just
something better! The Holy Spirit! I know myself, I have
a heart of worship, and if I was laid up in the hospital,
the first thing I would want is my church friends to come
in and sing and pray to God, whether or not I get well
again -- it would lift my spirits. That and the more the
merrier lifting me (or someone else) up to the Lord in
not only petitioning, but in first of all, PRAISE to God.
So that is what I am going to see if I can
get together, pray about it, and see if it was the Lord,
or just myself, personally I think it would be a grand
witnessing opportunity in hospitals, but I certainly want
to pray about it and see what The Lord says. If you feel
the Lord says "Go ahead" go do it in your area
too! I know people would be uplifted by it!

The Sun Begins to Set
In the last few days there has been a big
hubub about security, that most people would trade a lot
of their freedom for more security. I personally think
Colin Powell is being too much of a wimp. He is of course
(as much as I like the guy) partly responsible for
leaving Saddam Hussein in power in Iraq from the 1991
Gulf War. Saddam is rumored to have helped the terrorists
you know? Anyway,...
While I am all for knowing that me and my
family are secure in our homes without the threat of
terrorism, lets look at a few things.
--We were caught with our pants down yes..
--We were ready to strike as soon as we
knew what was going on (orders to shoot down the plane in
Pennsylvania)
--The nation is on high alert right now
I DON'T think we are going to have any
more bombings for a while, until things simmer down again
-- unless we have a lot of traitors out there. I think it
is safe to assume to go on with our everyday lives....
Unless we are now part of the final days?
I've been noticing a drastic change in the
tone of America. People uniting, newfound patriotism in
most places, high tension in others. Mostly though, in
one accord. However, let ME be a little paranoid here for
a moment. Now, I am all one for debunking the "oh,
my!! we're going to be beheaded RIGHT NOW and put into
labor camps like in WW2!" and cautioning to just
chill out... But I can easily see how a spiritual revival
at this point in time could actually trigger the opposite
in America, whereas the public, afraid of another
religious fanatacism, would actually ban or worse,
persecute the Christian church. Would this happen under
Christian President George W Bush? I don't know. Of
course, I know I am SUPPOSED to say "of course not!"
but I don't know that. He's a great guy, I voted for him,
I fully support him,....but things happen.
The rapture could happen today, tomorrow,
before I finish this column. WHEN it happens, I know
George will be gone too, as will I. That means this
country will have lost it's Christian leadership. I fear
for what happens then, and it's so freaky, my mind blanks
when I try to think about it.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, be
cautious and pray. Stand against the National Identity
badge the goverment wants to enforce upon us in the wake
of the WTC tragedy. Refuse to be terrorized, by
terrorists or by subleties of the US Government.

First off, I want to apologize if anyone's
submission is not seen on the front page: I was late in
getting the pages to the Archives, and keeping THIS page
flowing well. You can also submit to the new Guest Book (I'll
have a real Forum up soon) as well, and if you like, can
post your message on a separate page with link to it on
either the right of this screen. Fortunately, I now have
2 weeks free (kinda) to do that, so it is looking a bit
tighter. That and the page tends to crash if I keep
editing it so long in length... =D

CNN Backs Up Statements
The following is copied and pasted exactly
as CNN requests.

There is absolutely no truth to
the information that is now distributed on the Internet
that CNN used 10-year-old video when showing the
celebrating of some Palestinians in East Jerusalem after
the terror attacks in the U.S. The video was shot that
day by a Reuters camera crew. CNN is a client of Reuters
and like other clients, received the video and broadcast
it. Reuters officials have publicly made the facts clear
as well.

The allegation is false. The
source of the allegation has withdrawn it and apologized.
It was started by a Brazilian student who now says he
immediately posted a correction once he knew the
information was not true. This is the statement by his
university -- UNICAMP -- Universidad Estatal de Campinas-Brasil.
Again, please read this -- and
copy it -- and send it to anyone you know who may have
the false information. Thank you.

UNICAMP (Universidad Estatal de
Campinas-Brasil) would like to announce that it has no
knowledge of a videotape from 1991, whose images
supposedly aired on CNN showing Palestinians celebrating
the terrorist attacks in the U.S. The tape was supposedly
from 1991, and there were rumors that the images were
passed off as current.
This information was later
denied, as soon as it proved false, by Márcio A. V.
Carvalho, a student at UNICAMP. He approached the
administration today, 17.09.2001, to clarify the
following:
-- the information he got,
verbally, was that a professor from another institution (not
from UNICAMP) had the tape;
-- he sent the information to a
discussion group e-mail list;
-- many people from this list
were interested in the subject and requested more details;
-- he again contacted the person
who first gave him the information and the person denied
having the tape;
-- the student immediately sent
out a note clarifying what happened to the people from
his e-mail list.
The original message, however,
was distributed all over the world, often with many
distortions, including a falsified by-line article from
the student. He affirms that a hacker attacked his domain.
Several E-mails have been sent on his behalf and those
dating from 15.09.2001 should be ignored.
Among the distortions is the
fact that UNICAMP would be analyzing the tape, which is
absolutely false. The administration considers this alert
definitive and will be careful to avoid new rumors.
